FIVE CREATIVE PODCASTS TO LISTEN TO THIS MONTH
I was late to the podcast party and only discovered them earlier this year but now I just can’t imagine my day without them. I listen to podcasts mainly during my work commute and they make nearly two hours a day spent squashed like a sardine on the tube or a train so much easier to bear.
I listen mostly to creative channels as I believe that surrounding yourself with people doing amazing things has a strange power of making you more motivated for success and this is exactly what I found happening to me. They inspire me, motivate me and generally make me want to get my shit together. And they’re make me laugh at the same time. Honestly, why didn’t I find this out sooner?
So today I want to share with you five creative podcasts I’m listening to this month so you can enjoy them too.
THAT CREATIVE LIFE
Sara Dietschy is a young Youtuber and content creator based in New York City. In her weekly podcast she interviews creative business people, photographers, videographers, designers and other very interesting people including such names as Gary Vaynerchuk and Jack Conte. She’s a ball of energy and even though she’s eight years younger than she’s already achieved so much. It’s listening to people like her that constantly pushes me to do more and it proves that you can learn from people younger than you too.
A COUPLE OF CREATIVES
Lizzie Pearce and Chris Hau are a young couple based in Toronto who run their own video production company while also working on their own respective Youtube channels. Their podcast is a combination of tips on how to make it in the creative industry and all the ups and downs of running a business together as a couple.
THE MATTI & PETE SHOW
A brand new podcast channel by two of my favourite youtubers, Peter McKinnon and Matti Haapoja. Their conversations span everything from the latest photography and videography gear, through technology news to family life and being social media famous. All of it punctuated with random nonsense, coffee and plenty of banter. They are best friends and have an amazing on air chemistry which makes an hour long episodes go really quick.
Retail Exchange is a podcast associated with Retail Focus magazine and focuses on key issues and developments in the retail design industry. It’s really interesting to get insights from senior figures from brands such as Lego, Neal’s Yard and L’occitane, hear their thoughts on the industry and learn what they do to stay relevant in the world of modern retail.
COUPLES THERAPY WITH CANDICE AND CASEY
Whilst this podcast is hosted by two very creative minds, Casey Neistat - one of the biggest Youtubers in the world - and his wife Candice who is a jewellery designer, the subject has nothing to do with creativity. Instead they discuss the ups and downs of their marriage, parenting and working lives. The topics might be serious but the podcast itself is very entertaining and regularly makes me laugh out loud on my morning commute.
Hope you’d enjoy this article. I’d love to know if you’re a fan of any of the podcasts I’ve mentioned and what other creative channels you listen to, let me know in the comments.
